Vice President / Facility Director of Frontage China Safety Assessment Center (Suzhou)

Vice President / Facility Director of Frontage China Safety Assessment Center (Suzhou), primarily responsible for drug safety evaluation services at the preclinical safety assessment center in China (Suzhou).

Mr. Zhang has long been engaged in molecular pathology, oncology, toxicologic pathology research, new drug development research, and toxicology evaluation. His experience encompasses 16 years of clinical and basic biomedical research and teaching, as well as 20 years of new drug development, preclinical in vivo and in vitro drug metabolism, pharmacology, and toxicology research. He is an expert in the application development and safety evaluation of biologics (stem cells, vaccines, antibodies, and ADCs), small molecule drugs, and specialty medical devices. He has accumulated extensive experience in animal model development and application, particularly in the use of minipigs in drug safety evaluation. In the area of drug safety assessment, he has overseen or managed the design, conduct, and comprehensive evaluation of more than 2,000 studies, including projects governed by US FDA, OECD, EMEA, NMPA CDE GLP regulations, and ISO standards.

Prior to joining Frontage, Mr. Zhang served as Director of Toxicology and Chief Scientist at Altasciences in the United States, and as Deputy Facility Director and Senior Director of Toxicology (International Business) at Joinn Laboratories (Suzhou). During these tenures, he was primarily responsible for facility and/or departmental management and scientific support. Internally, he formulated and implemented continuous development plans, led organizational restructuring and orderly expansion of departments, optimized essential laboratory procedures, systems, and workflows, and guided new research directions and technologies. Externally, he supported international business development by providing multidimensional scientific, technical, and managerial support, with studies spanning more than 15 countries worldwide.

Mr. Zhang graduated from Guangdong Medical University, where he earned his Bachelor of Medicine degree and Master of Science degree in Pathology. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship training at Harvard Medical School in the United States.
